Instead of posting an alternate album, I wanted to post a very special release, well you could say a very special unrelease. In 1970, Pink Floyd was developing very good song writing skills as well as creating over the top instrumentals. Innovators in the progressive rock genre, the group was reaching new heights with this unreleased soundtrack album "Zabriskie Point" with the help of their newly added group member David Gilmour. The melodies and song writing abilities that he offered excelled the band critically and eventually made them world renowned. Originally being a soundtrack to an American Drama Film relating to counterculture set in Death Valley, the movie did not achieve high rating and either did the proposed music for the film. Jerry Garcia and Jim Morrison supposedly recorded tons of original work for the film, and some was leaked but was not complete in album form. At last Pink Floyd came to the rescue and recorded a complete album, but did not release it to the public. Moving on to other albums such as "Atom Heart Mother" and some early sessions of "Meddle", Pink Floyd was busy enough and shelved the unsuccessful piece. Now the music is uncovered and put together by me. With a couple of revisions to the tracklist and some renaming of songs, the album feels whole and can be valued just as any other Pink Floyd album. Filled with expansive elusive instrumentals and poetically themed lyrics, the flow of the album is almost seductive. There are scattered elements of space rock, progressive-folk, jazz and even some hard rock.
